There is a subtle temptation that every builder eventually faces.

It isn't failure.

It isn't compromise.

It isn't even success itself.

It's believing that because life is working, our soul must be healthy.

As entrepreneurs, professionals, investors, and leaders, we're trained to measure progress.

Revenue grows.

Opportunities multiply.

The calendar fills.

Goals are achieved.

From the outside, everything looks like increase.

But God has never measured our lives by the same metrics we do.

He doesn't ask how many businesses we built.

He asks who we became while building them.

The greatest tragedy isn't becoming successful.

It's becoming successful without becoming more surrendered.

Kingdom builders must constantly remember that fruitfulness and intimacy are not the same thing.

You can be productive without being present with God.

You can lead others while quietly neglecting your own soul.

You can build influence while your dependence on Him slowly fades.

This isn't usually intentional.

It happens gradually.

One busy season.

One postponed prayer.

One distracted morning at a time.

Until one day we realize we've mastered our schedules but neglected our communion with God.

Jesus wasn't speaking to unbelievers.

He was speaking to disciples.

People already following Him.

People already serving Him.

His reminder was simple.

Don't confuse activity for abiding.

Branches don't produce fruit by trying harder.

They produce fruit by remaining connected to the vine.

The Kingdom has never rewarded self-sufficiency.

It has always honored dependence.

Few people wake up and decide to trust themselves more than God.

It happens much more quietly.

We begin relying on experience instead of seeking wisdom.

We trust our routines more than His leading.

We depend on strategy more than prayer.

We solve problems faster than we surrender them.

Little by little, competence replaces childlike faith.

The danger isn't competence itself.

Competence is a gift.

The danger is forgetting the Giver.

Success has a unique way of convincing us that what worked yesterday will be enough for tomorrow.

But every new season requires fresh dependence.

God doesn't merely want to bless what we build.

He wants us to build with Him.

One of the greatest acts of spiritual maturity is asking questions that success can never answer.

When was the last time I genuinely delighted in God's presence?

Have I become more peaceful or simply more productive?

Am I building from overflow—or operating on empty?

Would the people closest to me say that my relationship with Jesus is my greatest priority?

If God removed every visible sign of success tomorrow, would my joy remain intact?

These aren't questions of performance.

They're questions of posture.

Because long before God transforms our circumstances, He often renews our hearts.

Throughout Scripture, God rarely began renewal with a crowd.

He began with individuals willing to respond.

Moses at a burning bush.

Isaiah in the temple.

Mary with an unexpected calling.

The disciples beside the Sea of Galilee.

Each invitation required leaving something familiar to embrace something eternal.

God still works that way.

Renewal isn't automatic.

It's intentional.

It begins the moment we become willing to say,

"Lord, I'm available again."

Every year there are moments that become spiritual markers.

Not because of the calendar.

But because we intentionally create space for God to meet us.

That's the heart behind Renaissance Month.

It's not about adding another event to an already full schedule.

It's about creating room for God to renew what the pace of life often drains.

For some, that renewal will look like restored passion.

For others, deeper healing.

For others, renewed vision for the season ahead.

I don't know exactly what God wants to do in your life.

But I know He often moves when His people intentionally position themselves to seek Him.

"Lord, what in me needs to be renewed?"

God often speaks when we finally stop rushing.

Say this out loud today:

I will not allow success to replace surrender.

My greatest pursuit is not achievement but intimacy with Christ.

I choose dependence over self-sufficiency, presence over performance, and faithfulness over recognition.

Perhaps it's about making room for God to do more in you.
