A Birthday Perspective

Today, August 11th, I turn another year older. Birthdays have a way of making us pause — not just to celebrate, but to evaluate. They mark the passing of time, and time is the one resource no investor can replenish. As I reflected this week, the Holy Spirit kept bringing me back to Psalm 90:12: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

This verse is more than a poetic thought — it’s an investment principle from the throne room of Heaven. It reminds us that time, like capital, must be stewarded intentionally. If you waste it, it’s gone. If you invest it wisely, it yields eternal returns.

So today, I’m inviting you into my personal birthday reflection — not just to look back at the days that have passed, but to intentionally maximize the ones ahead.

Why Numbering Our Days Matters

When Moses penned Psalm 90, he wasn’t talking about morbidly counting down the years until we pass. He was calling us to live with urgency and intentionality.

The truth is:

• We don’t have forever to fulfill our calling.

• We don’t have unlimited time to build the Kingdom assignments God has given us.

• We can’t afford to let distraction, fear, or comfort dilute our impact.

In finance, we understand the principle of compounding — the earlier and more consistently you invest, the greater the return. The same is true for Kingdom living. Every day you walk in obedience, integrity, and bold faith compounds into something far greater than you can see in the moment.

Question for you: If your life were a portfolio, would Heaven look at it and say, “You’ve invested well”?

The Kingdom Time Audit

Before you can maximize your impact, you have to know where your time is going.
Just as a wise investor audits their financial statements, a Kingdom investor audits their daily life.

Here’s a simple 3-step “Kingdom Time Audit” I personally do each year — and this week, I’ve been doing it again as part of my birthday reflection:

1. Identify Your True Priorities: List the top 5 things God has clearly called you to steward this season (e.g., relationship with Him, family, specific business/ministry, health, community).

2. Measure Time Against Calling: Track your hours for a week and see how much time you actually invest in those priorities. If you’re spending more time scrolling Instagram than building your God-given vision, it’s time to reallocate.

3. Prune What’s Not Bearing Fruit: If an activity doesn’t align with your calling or produce fruit, prune it. Time wasted is potential unreaped.

Jesus said in John 15:2: “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

God doesn’t just cut dead things — He prunes good things so they become great.

Living for Eternal ROI

The world teaches us to measure success in quarterly profits, portfolio performance, and market share. But Heaven measures success differently — in obedience, faithfulness, and eternal impact.

Paul said in Ephesians 5:15-16: “Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

Practical Eternal ROI Strategies:

• Align Investments with Kingdom Values: Avoid ventures that compromise biblical integrity, even if they promise high returns. The short-term gain is never worth long-term spiritual loss.

• Build with Multiplication in Mind: Don’t just build income streams — build impact streams. Ask, “How will this venture advance God’s Kingdom?”

• Integrate Giving into Your Growth: The tithe is the floor, not the ceiling. Radical generosity accelerates Kingdom influence. Luke 6:38 reminds us: “Give, and it will be given to you… For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

My Birthday Commitment

This year, I’m recommitting to three personal mandates:

1. To steward my time like the most precious capital I have — scheduling my days to match my God-given priorities.

2. To be bold in launching the Kingdom visions God has placed in my heart — no more delayed obedience.

3. To mentor and multiply other Kingdom men & women — because our collective impact will always outweigh what I could do alone.

I believe God is calling all of us to make similar commitments, because the harvest is great and the laborers are few.

The Parable of the Time Talents

We often read the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30) as if it’s only about money. But what if we applied it to time?

Imagine standing before the Lord and He says: “I gave you 31,536,000 seconds each year. What did you do with them?”

The faithful servant would say: “I invested them in prayer, relationships, service, and building what You told me to build.”

The unfaithful one might say: “I buried them in comfort, distraction, and fear.”

Time, like money, must be put to work for the Master.

From Days to Decades

One of the most powerful exercises I ever did was to write my own “Decade Vision Statement” — where I want to be in 10 years if I fully obey God and steward my days well. I invite you to do this too. Ask:

• In 10 years, what will my marriage look like?

• What will my business portfolio look like?

• How many lives will I have impacted for the Kingdom?

• What legacy will I be leaving for the next generation?

Then reverse-engineer that vision into yearly, monthly, and daily steps.

The Spiritual Clock Is Ticking

Here’s the sobering truth: we can’t stop the clock. Our days are finite, and Jesus is coming back.

The good news? You can start maximizing your impact today — no matter your age, stage, or current portfolio. In God’s economy, it’s never too late to sow.

Galatians 6:9 says: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Your Action Steps This Week

• Do the Kingdom Time Audit — Identify misalignments between your priorities and your schedule.

• Make One Bold Move — Take one step toward the dream God’s placed in your heart. Don’t wait for perfect timing.

• Sow a Birthday Seed — If you feel led, sow into someone else’s vision this week. It’s a prophetic act of multiplying your own harvest.

• Write Your Decade Vision Statement — Begin stewarding not just your days, but your decades.

As I celebrate another year of life, I’m deeply aware that the greatest gift I can give God is not just my praise, but my days — fully surrendered, fully invested, fully aligned with His purpose.

Your life is the most valuable asset you have. Don’t waste it chasing temporary returns when eternal impact is on the table.

Let’s live as if we truly believe Psalm 90:12. Let’s number our days, gain a heart of wisdom, and invest in a Kingdom legacy that will outlive us.

Because in the end, it’s not the years in your life that matter — it’s the life in your years.
